A native of Wisconsin, Nelson Kenter has lived in Missoula, Mont. since 1980.
He has served as staff photographer for the daily Missoulian Newspaper, and
been a frequent contributor to Regional magazines and many other publications.
After receiving an associate of arts degree from the Western Wisconsin Technical
Institute, Kenter combined professional experience with an average 150 days
a year in the "great outdoors" to build a library of nearly 10,000 images. The result
is a body of work with a deep understanding of nature and wild animals, outdoor
recreation and mountain splendor. Kenter's unique contributions include such
remote vistas as the Bob Marshall Wilderness' Chinese Wall, elusive animals
such as mountain lions and bald eagles, and wilderness events like 400,000-bird
flocks of migrating snow geese.
His base in Missoula puts him in easy travel range of Glacier and Yellowstone
national parks, Lewis and Clark Voyage of Discovery landmarks, the National
Bison Range, Flathead Lake, the Missouri River and numerous national wilderness
and wildlife refuge areas.
